My opinion: A brand name is not a specification
If your purchase order says Huntsman and nothing else, you have not specified anything. That sounds harsh. I know. But I have the receipts—literally, a folder of wrong approvals—and the pattern is almost always the same: someone trusts a brand name, skips the data sheet, and assumes the application is close enough.
I have been handling sourcing and technical documentation for industrial material orders for 8 years. Honest limitations are part of honest recommendations. I would rather tell you when my checklist does not fit than sell you a process you do not need. The goal is not to use a brand name as a shortcut. The goal is to use the right document, for the right application, at the right time.
