A textile maintenance kit usually includes a specific detergent, a reapplication spray, or a reproofing agent that helps the garment keep its original performance. In a Q1 2024 audit, we compared two identical workwear fabrics after washing: one with the maintenance kit and one with regular detergent. The maintenance-kit sample passed the water repellency test; the regular detergent sample didn’t. After that, we required maintenance kits in the procurement spec rather than treating them as an add-on.

My sample is limited to small and mid-size fabric mills, so larger integrated operations may work differently.
